FREE Kids Nacho Recipe

FREE Kids Nacho Recipe
This kids nacho recipe allows children to cook and prepare a lovely meal for their families. This meal costs less than $10 to prepare for a family of 4 and allows children to carry out most of the steps independently. We have included Maori words and phrases as well as lots of illustrations for non readers and early readers.
We are also giving away a FREE copy of 'Catch that Fly!' picture book to the first 10 children who complete the recipe and send us a photo.
The following link takes parents to a form where they can enter their email to receive the recipe in PDF format and get instructions on our book giveaway.
Have fun cooking!

Autumn Leaf Collection

I thought I would share my autumn leaf collection with you.
I collected these when I went for a walk on Monday.
Then I put them between the pages of an old magazine and put some heavy books on top to press them flat.
This morning I got them out to try some art work.
You can see I made a leaf character and then did some leaf rubbings.
My first rubbing used autumn colours to make a border – I think I will write an autumn poem in the middle later on today.
To do the rubbings I put the leaves under the paper and got a crayon and using the side of the crayon rubbed over the paper and – hey presto – I had a picture!
So then I decided to try with all sorts of colours – I think that looks good too but I am not sure what I will use it for – maybe I’ll make it into an envelope and post a letter to my daughter!!
You might like to try some autumn leaf art of your own. I know you could come up with some great ideas. Mrs Penrice and I would love to see some photos of what you have done.

Pip and Harold

Pip and Harold are thinking of you all. Until schools reopen, they are staying in their wee bubbles staying safe but they want to stay connected with students and their whanau.
They have created 'Harold's Daily Activity Posts' on their Facebook page with activities that the you can do at home & the occasional short video (some of you may have seen these already).
They have also created Small Changes with activities the family can do together.

A great example of Kiwi ingenuity!

A wee update from Maddy - this morning after seeing yours and Lesley’s bears on the fb page,  we looked at pictures and talked about the going on a bear hunt movement that’s happening throughout the world.

If we put bears in our windows no one would see them so we painted bears on our shipping containers. We don’t get many walkers near our house but our neighbours will see them and that will make them happy. We had fun.

Teddy Bear Support

Mrs Keach's bear has come out of his early hibernation to help children through the lockdown.
Mrs Penrice's teddy bear is sitting in the window to give lots of support too.
Mrs Keach and Mrs Penrice have to stay at home so we can't come to Taieri Mouth to see what your teddy bears are up to. Perhaps you could send a photo to principal@taieribeach.school.nz so we can see them.
