Taieri Beach School is open in Alert Level 2

The staff are all looking forward to having our wonderful Taieri Beach School children back at school on Monday 18th May 2020.

We very much appreciate the efforts the parents have made in helping their children with their at-distance learning.

The emphasis at Alert Level 2 will be on
  •  good hygiene practices (regularly washing and thoroughly drying hands, using hand sanitiser, coughing or sneezing into elbows)
  • social distancing so children and adults are not breathing on or touching each other
  • regular cleaning and disinfecting of commonly touched hard surfaces.
Our priority is to keep our social bubble at school as small as possible during Alert Level 2.

Hands on Learning

Great learning during lockdown

Maddy is enjoying lots of fun activities during lockdown - riding Stormy, searching for fungi, helping Dad make a sourdough starter and caring for her cute little piglets.
Great to see you involved in such interesting learning!
Well done Maddy!⭐👍

Autumn Leaf Collection

I thought I would share my autumn leaf collection with you.
I collected these when I went for a walk on Monday.
Then I put them between the pages of an old magazine and put some heavy books on top to press them flat.
This morning I got them out to try some art work.
You can see I made a leaf character and then did some leaf rubbings.
My first rubbing used autumn colours to make a border – I think I will write an autumn poem in the middle later on today.
To do the rubbings I put the leaves under the paper and got a crayon and using the side of the crayon rubbed over the paper and – hey presto – I had a picture!
So then I decided to try with all sorts of colours – I think that looks good too but I am not sure what I will use it for – maybe I’ll make it into an envelope and post a letter to my daughter!!
You might like to try some autumn leaf art of your own. I know you could come up with some great ideas. Mrs Penrice and I would love to see some photos of what you have done.

Pip and Harold

Pip and Harold are thinking of you all. Until schools reopen, they are staying in their wee bubbles staying safe but they want to stay connected with students and their whanau.
They have created 'Harold's Daily Activity Posts' on their Facebook page with activities that the you can do at home & the occasional short video (some of you may have seen these already).
They have also created Small Changes with activities the family can do together.
