Have a Happy and Safe Holiday everyone.

A special thank you to Mrs Kay for teaching our tamariki this term. They had lots of fun with you, especially the Easter Egg hunt!

We will see you all next term.

We have had a lot of fun while painting our clay creations and using Chrissie's macro lens on her phone to capture the wonderful  colours and textures when working with paint.

We have mixed colours to create amazing new vibrant colours and when dried they have formed interesting textures on the newspaper.
We have swirled paint colours together using different techniques to create amazing abstract art that Koriana-Mei found very exciting as you don't know what shape and design  you will end up with in the end.
We have such creative children at TBS!

While we are working on creating our butterfly garden for springtime, we have decided to add in a fairy house and make use of an old tree stump.

Delrio designed a stand to go over the tree stump and made sure he measured what size we needed to build for that area.
Ryker did a super job reading Delrio's plan and measurements before heading out on the school grounds to find the right sticks needed for this first stage of the build.
It's been a team effort screwing it all together and its coming along nicely.

We were very lucky to be given some delicious tomatoes and fresh basil that were growing in the Swimming Pool. We decided to make a tasty tomato and herb paste that we spread on top of our pizza dough along with tasty cheese.

It was a fun time cooking. We had traditional Italian music playing, we learnt a few Italian words and found an easy way to remember the colours of the Italian flag.
Basil - Green / Dough - White / Tomatoes -Red

Reina created her wonderful poster about Italian dishes and the words we learnt to say while making our pizza.

We harvested more veggies from our garden and decided to make stuffed potatoes that turned out delicious.

After the summer holidays Paradise needed tidying up. We raked paths around the trees, cut back overgrown branches and built a platform to walk on as you enter Paradise. We also created amazing patterns using what we could find around the school and I think you will all just love how creative our students are.

Thank you Koriana-Mei for typing out the courgette recipe. 😊

FROM THE GARDEN TO THE KITCHEN TO THE TABLE

After our wonderful summer holidays our vegetable garden had many delicious surprises for us to forage. The cherry tomatoes never made it to the kitchen, they were just so sweet and juicy we had to eat them straight away.
Koriana-Mei and Reina created a scrumptious vegetable dish using a courgette, chives, kale, parsley with added onion and garlic. It was our first time using the spiral slicer that worked a charm with the courgette. Recipe to follow soon.

Rainy days don't always mean staying in the classroom at Taieri Beach School. Reina helped put the tent up and we worked on our nature journals and paintings inside the tent. How lucky are we to be able to listen to the ocean and all the birds while we work outside.
