Today is Winnie the Pooh's 100th birthday!

Such a wise bear.

We needed kanuka sticks for an outdoor project we are all working on at the school so decided to visited Chrissie's native bush block nearby. We had fun exploring, collecting small kanuka sticks and creating a teepee with the larger branches that were on the ground. There were many ideas shared, great teamwork between Delrio and Koriana-Mei when sawing the smaller sticks and lots of laughter during this outing.

Ryker wanted to practice his deer stalking skills with the neighbouring farmers sheep. His aim was to get as close as possible without them noticing him and he was able to crawl a few meters from the fence before he was spotted! We are so fortunate to have sheep, llama, fallow deer and ducks neighbouring our school grounds.

It was such a beautiful morning so we decided to practice our spelling words outside. We used a stick and the sandpit to write our words then used the rake to clear the sand for the next word.

In the nearby trees we had the Korimako and the Tui birds singing very loudly so we decided they must have also enjoyed the spelling lesson.

We all had a turn using a hobby Dremel and tried carving shapes into our small pieces of wood. We have very creative kids at Taieri Beach School !  😀

Lathe Work

We all enjoyed using the lathe and now have an understanding how wooden furniture legs can be shaped using adult lathe machine.

This 4 in 1 workshop for kids has been so much fun to use, we learnt how to change the parts around to create a different tool. We all had a turn at using the sander, drill press, jigsaw and lathe and always remembered safety first when using these tools.

Roasting Marshmellows

We all had such fun at the end of the term. iI was a very chilly day but that didn't stop us heading outdoors. We all dressed warmly and had blankets to keep us toasty in our tent.

We chatted about fire safety, shared camping stories and just how delicious each marshmallow was 😶😶😶
