FireWise

Aaron, the fire officer, came today to talk to us about fire safety.
Have fire alarms in your bedrooms, hallway and lounge.
If you have a house fire, crawl low under the smoke and get outside quickly.
Meet the rest of the family at an agreed place like the letterbox.
Don't play with matches. Give them to an adult.

Hockey
On Wednesday 17th June we played hockey with our sports activator Shea on the court. We used hockey sticks and tennis balls. We learned how to dribble, pass and shoot goals with the hockey sticks. Then we had a game of hockey. It was really fun and I helped my team score 5 goals, and the other team scored 3 goals so we won!

Frisbee Golf
Shea, our Sports Activator, came to Taieri Beach School on Wednesday 17th June and we played Frisbee Golf.
We got the frisbees and Shea set up two frisbee goals. First we used a frisbee driver and we walked to where it landed then stood there and used a mid-range frisbee to get closer to the frisbee golf net and lastly we used the putter frisbee to finish off the whole game.
We all improved and enjoyed the challenge Shea made for us to do!
Now we can play by ourselves.

Flax work

In class we have been learning about
flax.
Firstly we read and made posters then
we went and got some flax, then we
made some windmills with a stick and
some flax. After that we went online
and found a karakia about flax. It was
a lot of fun doing some weaving and
everyone enjoyed it.

Potatoes - Garden to Plate.
We cleaned up the garden, and found 26 delicious
potatoes.
As a class we decided to make them into yummy
wedges.
We washed and chopped the potatoes up, oiled, salted and
seasoned them. Then we baked them and they were
delicious! Next week we hope to make the rest into baked
potatoes.

Maddy and Ryker sorted the potatoes we dug out of our school garden into large, medium and small sizes. We cut the large potatoes into wedges and cooked them up. Next week we hope to bake the medium size potatoes.

Thursday 11 June 2020

Today we baked Queen Cakes. We were going to make them on Queen’s Birthday, after we had learnt about why NZ celebrates the Queen’s Birthday weekend, but it was Alert Level 2. Now we are Alert Level 1 so we did it on Thursday 11th June, the day after the Queen’s husband, Prince Phillip had his 99th birthday.

We enjoyed putting on our crowns and eating our cakes off Mrs Keach’s fancy plates just as if we were Kings and Queens!
