Freezing flowers in liquid nitrogen

When a flower is immersed in liquid nitrogen, all the water in the flower will freeze almost instantly. Once the water in the flower has frozen, the flower becomes brittle and will shatter like glass. When the flower is smashed, you can see just how fragile it has become.

Liquid nitrogen has a temperature of -196 °C. When Sam poured liquid nitrogen over an inflated balloon, only a thin skin-like object is left over from the balloon. When it is warmed up, the balloon regains its original volume and shape.

Explanation : The volume of the balloon decreases by the low temperature, because the gas inside is cooled down.
