Wall hanging art for the classroom

This has taken a few weeks to create and we are happy to finally see the end product today.

Delrio made the salt dough by following a recipe and divided it up so each of the children could roll their own dough and cut various shapes, before popping it into the oven to harden. They decorated them with paint, leaves and flower petals before sealing them with a coat of PVA glue.

Delrio measured evenly where the holes needed to be drilled on our stick of Kanuka and each of the children threaded their shapes and hung their own art creation. They also learnt how to make a flower from a flax leaf which was also added to the wall hanging.

It was wonderful to see the creativity these children have.

A great team effort.

Koriana-Mei heard that if you place red tape on new sugar water feeders it can help the birds find it a lot quicker so we didn't have tape but found red dot stickers. Koriana-Mei did a great job and  we have noticed a difference in how many birds are now stopping in for that drink of sugar water.

It was good to be outside in the warm morning sun working and watching the different bird species who enjoy sugar water.

Monsters in the playground

We all had fun creating friendly chalk monsters using any weeds that were growing around the school. So much imaginative play and conversation was had while creating these cuties. We were lucky to find a few spiders and lady bugs living in a few of the monsters hair so we  did hope they didn't have too much of an itchy head!
